Missouri Main Street Connection (MMSC) is offering the Creative Space Activation Grant opportunity to our Main Street network. This grant will award $10,000 to one Main Street program to activate a space in their district to engage their community.
All designated Missouri Main Street programs with an agreement with MMSC, are in good standing and are registered to attend the ShowMe Bash are eligible to apply. If you are unsure if you have an agreement or are in good standing, please contact Ben White at ben@momainstreet.org.
Important information about the grant and the application is below.
MMSC continues to see the need to activate outdoor spaces through placemaking projects in historic districts as a way to support small businesses, local citizens, and community vibrancy for all ages. This grant will support local Main Street organizations in activating their historic district’s public spaces to build community connections and create an activity to encourages customers to support local small businesses.
Applications are due June 16, 2026, by midnight. Finalists will be selected by a panel of judges and will be announced on June 26th. Finalist can then begin creating a short presentation of their project for the Pitch Party hosted during the last general session on July 30th in Springfield.
The winner will be selected by audience participation at the Pitch Party. Be sure to think of ways to make your presentation engaging! All finalists must perform a skit at the Pitch Party. MMSC will share more information about the presentation components when finalists are selected.
Following the selection of the grant winner, projects may start on August 15th after signing the grant agreement with MMSC and must be completed by June 5, 2027.
